Description du lieu
This is the breathtaking domed banking hall of the Royal Bank of Scotland at Dundas House on St Andrew Square. Shot from floor level looking up, the deep blue coffered dome is studded with glazed stars that flood daylight into the room. Symmetrical arches, classical columns and a patterned marble floor complete the grand interior. The banking hall was added in 1857 behind the original townhouse built in 1774. It remains one of the city’s finest interiors and functions as a working space, so it can be busy and access may be restricted.
Notes de prise de vue
The key here is to work fast and unobtrusively. You will need to seek permission to take the pictures and be mindful and respectful of those around. The room is well lit, but as high an ISO and as low an aperture as you are confident with will (for sharpness) ensure a shutter speed suitable for hand held shooting. It is likely there will be people in the room, but you can always point up and simply take a picture of the magnificent dome ceiling.
