Descrizione della location

Along the path from Dean Village to Stockbridge, Thomas Telford’s soaring Dean Bridge arches sit high overhead, while a quaint turreted stone cottage with a bright red door sits below on Miller Row. Completed in 1831, the four-arch bridge carries Queensferry Road some 30+ metres above the valley. Golden hour light on a summer evening catches the bridge’s upper stonework and the building below for a fleeting moment each evening.

Note di scatto

This composition is tricky to time correctly for the sole reason that the setting sun will only shine at the angle required along the Water of Leith for a short period each day. The lower the sun angle through the year, the less time there will be to actually achieve the shot before the setting sun dips below the trees and places the Miller Row building in shadow. The location is more forgiving in overcast conditions at any time during the year, although golden light during summer months presents a far more vibrant image.
