Standortbeschreibung
Edinburgh’s bike paths follow a former railway network through the city’s leafy northern suburbs - part of an extensive network of traffic-free walking and cycling routes converted from old goods lines. This frame looks down the smooth-surfaced path as it curves towards an old stone railway bridge swallowed by a tunnel of overhanging trees, ivy and summer greenery. The route is flat, accessible and a great way to traverse the northern parts of the city with plenty of photo opportunities.
Aufnahmehinweise
The bike paths network offers something all year round, but wider scenes taking in the greenery are obviously more photogenic in the summer months when the canopy is at its densest. This specific composition works better in softer or overcast light as this will diffuse the scene and allow you to bring out the shadows easily. The silhouette of a walker or cyclist will give the tunnel a sense of scale and more depth to the image. Hand held shooting is fine without any real ISO or aperture compromises, and this means you won’t obstruct the path for other users with a tripod.
