Standortbeschreibung
Tucked in a valley below the city streets, Dean Village sits where the Water of Leith tumbles past a cluster of handsome heritage buildings in a village area that dates back to the 16th century. Once a milling community that ground grain for Edinburgh for centuries, the village is now mostly a quaint residential pocket of the city and feels a world away from the bustle above. The village is more or less free of traffic, though it draws visitors. This shot is taken from next to a footbridge across the river, so the view is unobstructed.
Aufnahmehinweise
Best in spring, summer or autumn when the riverbanks are green and lush. If taken on a clear day the contrast of red brick, blue sky and green foliage works well. A Polarising filter will bring out colour and cut reflections. Be aware that the area is in a valley, so a lower sun casts shade over the area. A longer exposure with ND filter will give some movement to the water, but not essential.
