Standortbeschreibung
They say, ‘Start at the beginning...’, so, here goes; Arthur’s Seat is the remains of an extinct volcano formed over 300 million years ago. Its summit is the highest point in the city at 251 metres, offering magnificent 360 degree views. Located within Holyrood Park, just minutes from the heart of the city, this shot is taken from the lower Crags path in early morning light. Parking can be found at the foot of the path at Queen’s Drive, otherwise it’s an easy walk from the city. The ascent to the viewpoint is a moderate hike on a rougher ground. The path, ridge and walk to Arthur’s Seat present several viewpoints.
Aufnahmehinweise
This is an early morning shot showing the rugged volcanic summit of Arthur’s Seat rising through a bank of drifting morning cloud. Showing any hill, or even a building or structure emerging through low cloud, mist or haar gives a mysterious feel to an image. It also helps to illustrate the height and presence of the element emerging. Decent walking shoes for the uneven, often muddy climb are advisable, especially if you veer off the walking trails. Remember to be cautious here as there are sheer drops all along the Crags path.
