Location description
The Debating Chamber inside the Scottish Parliament building at Holyrood is where MSPs meet to debate, make decisions and amend Bills. It is also where First Minister’s question time is held when parliement is in session. The building remains one of Edinburgh’s boldest contemporary landmarks. It’s a popular tourist attraction so expect crowds. Entry is free and the Chamber is accessible to all visitors. You need to pass through security screening to enter the building. Photography is permitted when Parliament is not in session.
Shooting notes
An indoor, all-season room lit by the natural lighting coming through the large western facing windows as well as the room’s own artificial lights. A very wide lens is needed to capture the entire room. Higher ISO is likely to be needed here for hand-held shooting to ensure no camera movement. Try to visit on a quiet, non-sitting day to capture the empty chamber. Checking access/opening times in advance is recommended.
