The Johnnie Walker experience lives in a renovated former department store at the end of Princes Street in the heart of the West End. This immersive visitor attraction offers a multi-storey whisky experience crowned by the rooftop Bar 1820 which features a stunning elevated view to Edinburgh Castle. There’s no need to take a whisky tour in order to visit the rooftop bar as a patron, although booking is recommended. When seated in the bar you are free to enjoy the terrace area which offers spectacular views.

This is an interesting location for an image, as it is essentially a bar with a view. Compromises will have to be made at blue hour with ISO and aperture to shoot without a tripod. The image above was successfully taken hand held with image stabilisation on at 0.3 seconds, although that could be reduced by increasing the ISO. Space is fairly limited and you should be conscious of other patrons enjoying the view. Try other compositions in different directions and at other times of the day too.
